Statement of Purpose

The AMERICAN ORDER OF COMBAT adopts the original statement of purpose and association:

The American Order of Combat – BuDoKwan was originally founded as a Fraternal Association of Military Veterans, that were also Black Belt Instructors and Masters.  The purpose is to maintain a professional fraternal organization that provides a system for the training, certification and advancement for U.S. Veterans, Active Military, Law Enforcement, and U.S. Citizens interested in the study and instruction of the Martial Arts;

  • To promote understanding of the duties and requirement of United States Citizenship.
  • To educate members and others of the proper use and display of the U. S. Flag.
  • To advance the Education of Members, and the public, not limited to Martial Arts knowledge, but to include Academic, Business and Technical development, and the encouragement there of.
  • To promote the ideas of Service: Military, Community and Organizational.
  • To organize activities promoting Martial Skills and Good Sportsmanship.
  • To recognize/publicize the Martial Arts.
  • To promote participation in, and support of our Military, Law Enforcement and Emergency Services.
  • To award the accomplishments of members and their families.

APPLICATION FOR MEMBERSHIP

Please read the following regarding Application for Membership.

The American Order of Combat has a General Membership for all of its active members.  The AOC BUDOKWAN Membership is for all active and retired Black Belt members.

GENERAL MEMBERSHIP (Color Belt Students) – To become a general member of the AOC, you must be a student of an affiliate lodge prior to making application for membership.  Application is made through the member’s lodge or via this website.  NOTE: If applicant is not currently a member of an affiliate school, application must be made directly to the AOC.  The applicant will be assigned to the Warriors Institute (HQ Lodge) as their affiliate lodge and required to follow all rules, regulations and requirements of the lodge.  

BUDOKWAN MEMBERSHIP (Black Belt Membership) – Membership for AOC Black Belts members, active and retired.  Membership is made directly through the American Order of Combat and approved by the Board of Masters.

RETURNING MEMBERS – Members who have not been active within the Order for a period of two years or more, must complete the Membership Application.  Black Belt members will complete the “Budokwan” application, while Students will complete the American Order of Combat application.  Application process remains the same.

APPLICATION FOR  LODGE MEMBERSHIP

Please read the following regarding Application for Lodge Membership.

The American Order of Combat requires any school that desires to register as an Affiliate Lodge to make application directly through the Order.  Application can only be made by the registering lodge’s Chief Instructor, who meets the following criteria:  (1) must be an active BUDOKWAN member in “good standing,”  (2) a returning BUDOKWAN member who has made application for membership, or (3) a referral to the AOC by a member of the Board of Masters or an AOC Affiliate Lodge Chief Instructor.
